Tim Northrop
Board Member
Tim is the Senior Director of Development at the College of Agriculture, Food, & Environmental Sciences at Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo. In his role, he engages individuals, industry, and organizations in major giving in support of Cal Poly’s Learn by Doing initiatives that impact the success of our faculty and students.
Before joining Cal Poly, Tim was the Director of Development and Alumni Services at the Yale School of the Environment, and prior to that, served as the Connecticut State Director for the Trust for Public Land where he oversaw all land protection, fundraising and stewardship for TPL’s statewide land protection efforts. As an environmental consultant, Tim worked with industry to assess environmental site conditions; conduct field sampling and inventory solid and hazardous waste operations; and design, permit and construct new facilities.
Tim earned his B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University, Master’s in Environment Management from Yale University, and certificates in Solid and Hazardous Waste Management from UCLA. He was a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs in Los Angeles, and a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
