Rob Thomas is a member of AECOM’s high performance and sustainability team that provides sustainability consulting services for planning, design, and construction projects across a range of sectors, including infrastructure, commercial, education, transportation, and hospitality. He is a member of AECOM’s Research, Development + Innovation team and the U.S. East Leader for AECOM’s Global Decarbonization & Climate Resilience Enterprise Initiative.

In 2022 he was recognized as an emerging leader in climate, equity, and sustainability by Grist (magazine) for his work as a co-founder of Climate Candidates. He started his career with the Student Conservation Association (SCA), leading a crew in Newark NJ and then serving as an intern with the Newark Office of Sustainability. Rob remained at the City of Newark for approximately 11 years after his internship, eventually being appointed as the Chief of Energy and Environment, spearheading Newark’s sustainable infrastructure work in energy, transportation/mobility, resiliency and conservation.
