I am a Fayetteville resident and East Coast native who grew up in the Boston area. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont, where I studied environmental science and sustainable food systems, and completed an undergraduate thesis exploring the emergence of organic dairy operations. Studying agroecology and learning to view farming in the context of natural resource management led me to Heifer Ranch in central Arkansas, where I volunteered as an organic farmer, livestock caretaker, and environmental educator. Learning more about the perception of conservation and sustainability in rural areas led me to serve as an Appalachian Forest Heritage AmeriCorps member with the US Fish and Wildlife Service in West Virginia, helping to engage schoolchildren, landowners, and outdoors enthusiasts in conservation.
As an environmental professional, I endeavor to help make conservation and the outdoors accessible to all, and to examine how environmental, public health, and social justice issues overlap. In my most recent role, I oversaw Student Conservation Association’s internship program in the California/Southwest region, providing support to young adults beginning their careers in conservation, and to the federal, state, and local agencies that host them. As of fall 2016, I am currently enrolled in the Clinton School of Public Service as a Master of Public Service candidate.
My other passions include community outreach, public health, language learning, and exploring the the outdoors.
