Elke Hodson is a policy analyst in the Office of Climate, Environment, and Efficiency in the Office of Energy Policy and Systems Analysis at the U.S. Department of Energy where she leads a portfolio on policies and measures to achieve U.S. goals for economy-wide greenhouse gas mitigation. Before joining DOE in 2011 as an AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow, she was a postdoctoral researcher from 2008-2011 at the Swiss Federal Research Institute WSL where she studied how large-scale climate variations impact global wetland methane emissions and thus the global methane cycle. Elke graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2008 with a Ph.D. in climate physics and chemistry. She has co-authored over 10 peer-reviewed articles in leading atmospheric, geoscience, economics, and policy journals including Nature Geoscience and was a lead author for the 2013 Supplement to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories: Wetlands.
