Sun joined EPA's Office of Water, Urban Waters Program in 2011 and serves as the program's National Grants Program Manager. Prior to joining the Urban Waters team, she worked for 4 years as a Remedial Project Manager in EPA Region 3's Superfund program. Her past work experience also includes consulting as a project geologist for GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc.; and as a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) project manager for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). She received her BA in geology from Bryn Mawr College, and a MS in environmental science from the University of Virginia. Both undergraduate and graduate theses focused on contaminant hydrogeology.
