David Ngwenyama is a consultant ecologist and Technical Advisor to CSOs working biodiversity and large scale mining activity. His work focuses on research and monitoring of the impact of mining in protected areas in Zambia. David is currently part of the team that have filed a public interest case to stop mining in Lower Zambezi National Park by an Australian firm. David also volunteers for BirdWatch Zambia, Zambia CBNRM Forum, and Wildlife and Environmental Conservation Society of Zambia (WECSZ)
Previously, David has worked as CEO for Zambia Ornithological Society (ZOS), as a Shoebill researcher at Bangweulu Wetlands Program (BWP), National Economic Advisory Council, and has consulted on a number of studies related to biodiversity conservation, Ornithology, wetlands ecology and community based conservation in Zambia, USA, and Italy among others. David previously volunteered as environment and sustainable development editor for the African Studies Quarterly, an online peer-reviewed journal dedicated to research on Africa.
