Rouwenna Lamm

NERN (2011)

Rouwenna Lamm grew up in Kentucky and moved to Massachusetts seven years ago to attend Smith College, where she earned a B.A. in astronomy and physics. During her senior year in college, she began organizing around climate change after attending Power Shift 2007, the first ever national youth conference on climate change. Inspired by the youth at the conference, she returned to Massachusetts where she planned a state-wide climate conference, Massachusetts Power Shift, and helped found a network of student climate advocates by the same name. After college, Rouwenna took a 9-month internship with the Union of Concerned Scientists where she worked to connect scientists with policy makers and the public to increase climate education and push for legislative action to address climate change. She also helped produce reports on the impacts of climate change in the Midwest. Today, Rouwenna works with the Alliance for Climate Education (ACE), where she educates high school students in New England about climate change and inspires them to take action through ACE's award-winning assembly presentation. She also supports students taking on green projects through their school-based Action Teams and manages the operations of the 3-person New England team.
