Environmental problems are aspects of larger social problems. My community-centric approach to solving environmental problems has led me to work on inner-city parks in Los Angeles, drought-stricken borderland farms in Mexico and poached coastal reserves in South Africa. Through a decade of work as an environmental program manager, I have cultivated technical knowledge in Geographic Information Systems, technical writing and data analysis, and communication abilities of public speaking, team management and survey design. These complimentary skillsets have equipped me for my current position at the Resource Conservation District, where I provide technical assistance to San Diego farmers and ranchers regarding conservation practices, and work with local and state decisionmakers to improve support for the agricultural community in San Diego. My associates and beneficiaries make me confident that we truly can restructure our society with sustainability at its core, for the next generation of leaders to enjoy.
