Hello! I am Billy Hall and am broadly interested in political matters related to racial justice, food justice and food sovereignty, decolonization, and climate change and in my free time like to go hiking, make music, play D&D, and spend time with family. I'm currently a AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow working as a Communications Advisor with the USAID Bureau for Resilience and Food Security Policy Division. I hold a PhD in Global & Sociocultural Studies from Florida International University, where I basically studied how racialized restructurings of space create uneven and inequitable food landscapes, and how Black people nourish their communities in the face of structural inequality. I also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Maryland's National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center. I have worked in local and national food policy spaces, from 2010-2015 as a member of the Miami-Dade Food Policy Council and in 2014 as a National Academies Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Fellow with the Food and Nutrition Board.
