Erin Burkett (she/her) is an environmental social scientist currently studying the impact of gender norms on recreational fishing participation in the Great Lakes region and the benefits and challenges of gendered outdoor recreation engagement  programs.

Her past lives in the environmental field include leading outdoor recreation and education experiences for children and young adults, looking for rare seabird eggs in the Alaskan mountains, wilderness medicine, urban trail and parks construction projects, and exploring earthworm distribution, ant behavior, and salamander territories in Michigan. Her latest endeavors include paddling the Boundary Waters and Apostle Islands, harvesting stinging nettles in her own backyard, and writing in the third person.
