Ricky began working as ECN's Green Growth Manager in February 2018 and was recently promoted to Director of Climate Equity. In these roles, Ricky has worked to engage residents in green stormwater infrastructure, air quality issues, and other climate change-related topics. Prior to starting at ECN, he
received his Masters in Environmental Policy from the University of Michigan's School of Natural Resources and Environment (Now School of Environment and Sustainability). As a graduate student, he assisted the student-led group Sustainability Without Borders with a water project in Peru as a volunteer coordinator and translator. For his masters capstone, he researched community resilience in six coastal, natural resource dependent Oregon communities through stakeholder interviews.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in Government and Philosophy from Centre College in Kentucky. He began his career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador where he spent three years working on a range of sustainability projects, including waste management outreach for the local government, environmental clubs in high schools, a reforestation initiative, and business development with local reserve owners. Ricky was born and raised in the St. Louis area and moved to Michigan in 2014. He enjoys hiking, travel, trivia, film, and getting to know new people and places.
