Kari Carney is the Training and Leadership Development Director for Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement, a grassroots organization that works for environmental, social, and economic justice. She has developed the Iowa CCI Leadership School, a place where everyday Iowans can receive training, gain knowledge, and develop their leadership skills to better equip them to address the issues that impact their lives. Kari has worked with communities across Iowa to stop the construction of polluting industries, such as factory farms and coal fired power plants; ensure better enforcement of existing environmental laws; and strengthen environmental laws. Kari is also a senior trainer for National People's Action and conducts trainings for community organizers.
