Alycia Chuney is a proud Detroit native and lover of science and animals, which is why she pursued a Bachelors of Science degree in Zoology from Michigan State University. When her pre-vet dreams were dashed by her hatred of the smell of farms she went on to pursue her Master’s in Urban Sustainability from Antioch University.
Alycia has committed her career and personal life to working with and advocating for marginalized young people. She currently works for the Student Conservation Association (SCA), an organization whose mission is to build the next generation of conservation leaders. Alycia has had the opportunity to work with some of the nations brightest youth while managing a summer employment program that provided youth with a steady income and introduced them to conservation ethics and some of America’s great outdoors.
In her personal life, Alycia enjoys volunteering with other youth-serving organizations in the DC Area. She also takes any time she can to visit her family and friends in Detroit and spend time with her pets.
Alycia hopes to continue her journey of inspiring youth to be great leaders, agents of change and supporters of justice.
