Genea is a New York City native, whose Afro-Caribbean ancestry has shaped their deep commitment to environmental and social justice. Genea is an urban planner and environmental justice organizer who has worked with youth and communities of color towards environmental justice, climate resiliency, health equity, and food sovereignty through community-based participatory planning, popular education, and community organizing. Genea has extensive experience working on environmental initatives within community-based, academic, and governmental organizations.  Genea is passionate about envisioning and actualizing liberation for Black, Indigenous, and people of color communities through self-determination and cooperative economics. Genea enjoys cooking and sharing meals with community, putting their hands in the soil, practicing spiritual herbalism, and being surrounded by forests and bodies of water.

Genea holds a Bachelor's in Environmental Studies and Biology from Wellesley College and a Master's in City Planning from MIT.
