Kathryn Alcantar is currently a Senior Policy Advisor at the Center for Environmental Health based in Oakland California where she also directed CEH's California policy program and Californians for a Healthy and Green Economy (CHANGE Coalition) for 8 years. Kathryn also serves as the co-lead of the Policy & Legal hub of the Cancer Free Economy Network. Prior to CEH, Kathryn was the Environmental Program Fellow at the San Francisco Foundation and an Environmental Health Associate at WE ACT for Environmental Justice, a community-based environmental justice organization that builds community power to fight environmental racism and improve environmental health, protection and policy in communities of color. While at WE ACT, she developed environmental health and science materials and trainings designed to empower communities in New York City and completed the ELP program. She also worked as Water Program Director and Environmental Policy Analyst at the Latino Issues Forum. Her other professional experience includes consulting for the Health and Environmental Funders Network, the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, the California Department of Public Health and East Bay Municipal Utility District. She has completed internships at the Greenlining Institute, Chevron, and the U.S EPA Region 9. She has a dual master's degree (MPA/MPH) in Enviornmental Policy and Public Health from Columbia University and a bachelor's of science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
