Mieko is the solopreneur of Radiance Studios LLC, a boutique consulting service focused on website design, digital marketing, and brand development for individuals and small businesses.

Previously, she was Program and Marketing Director for Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Waitsfield, VT for 17-months (2016-2017). For eight years, she was the former Projects Coordinator at the University of Vermont's Office of Sustainability (2008-2016). At UVM, she coordinated numerous projects and programs including an internship program and campus green fund called the Clean Energy Fund. She co-wrote a guide for the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, called How to Guide: Campus Green Fund Implementation, with Senior Fellows McKenzie Beverage and Karen Blaney. Prior to working at UVM, she worked at The Food Project in Roxbury and Lincoln, Mass., a sustainable agriculture non-profit organization, and Boston Day & Evening Academy, a charter high school.

She holds a B.A. in Philosophy and minor in Studio Art and Honors Program from SUNY Geneseo. After graduating from college, Mieko interned for a year at a residential alternative high school called Eagle Rock School and Professional Development Center. In 2004, she earned a M.S. in Environmental Education from the Audubon Expedition Institute at Lesley College; studied and traveled in the Pacific Northwest, Big Island of Hawai’i, and the Atlantic Coast bioregions. In 2011, Mieko earned a Master of Liberal Arts in Sustainability and Environmental Management at Harvard University Extension School.

Mieko enjoys being part of ELP. She learned about ELP from Senior Fellow and AEI classmate Jesse Pyles; motivated by his enthusiasm for the program, his cohort, and the PLP process. Over the years, she has had the chance to work with numerous fellows either through campus sustainability or other projects such as working on websites with Pete Land and T.J. Hellmann at Tamarack Media. Mieko has been fortunate with the support she has received from her NERN11 cohort, particularly her podmate Senior Fellow Ravi Prasad. She likes taking part in senior retreats and serving as a co-interviewer for ELP Fellow interviews.

Mieko is an experienced outdoor educator and kayak guide, trained through Outward Bound and the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), prior to her work in experiential education and campus sustainability. She lives in Burlington, VT with her husband Josh and their daughter, Naomi Ling. They enjoy the great outdoors together and celebrating the local economy and food system.
