Robert Thomas is the Chief of Energy and Environment in the City of Newark Department of Engineering and Deputy Energy Coordinator in the Newark Office of Emergency Management. In these roles, Rob is primarily focused on the development and implementation of the City’s energy program that seeks to save tax payer dollars through increased energy efficiency and conservation, improved resiliency of energy infrastructure systems within the City’s control and strengthening the relationship between public and private stakeholders on matters of energy security and energy reliability.

Prior to joining the Department of Engineering, Rob was a student and Division I athlete at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. 

In Rob's free time he also Chairs the Brick City Supper Club, a group of Newarkers who get together bi-weekly to explore Newark's amazing restaurants and support the local economy.
