I've been working with American Rivers for the last year and a half as the outreach professional, federal policy expert, and state lead for the Clean Water for All Coalition. I've been working in water related policy and advocacy for the last 5 years, starting with my desire to change careers after much self reflection while working the for-profit sector. I have a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Maryland, College park and have worked with federal and local non-profits on urban water issues, stormwater regulation, seafood regulations, fisheries management, and creation and protection of national marine sanctuaries.
I try to bring a postive attitude to all the work I do in my professional and personal life and don't allow stress or multiple moving parts get the best of me. In my free time I like to hike, and write most of all. I love a good story and could talk for days about what that means to me. My biggest passion is still the conservation of our waterways, however. People are generally so preoccupied by protecting the land they interact with everyday that all life came from the sea. I am fond of the quote from Sylvia Earle - "No blue, no green."
