Tom is is the Associate Director of the Miller Center for Interreligious Learning and Leadership of Hebrew College. He is also a candidate pursuing ordination in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Prior to returning to academia, he was the Senior Manager of Business Development at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) in Boston. Before that he was Director of Business Development for the Vertex Companies, Inc. - a Boston-based international environmental consulting firm. With Vertex he also developed and managed the company’s Energy and Sustainability Division and worked as a project manager in the International division. Tom moved to Boston from Dubai where he worked in environmental and green building consulting. Tom moved to Dubai after several years studying in Europe and working in the program administration of the International MBA program at IE Business School in Madrid.
Originally from Kansas, Tom holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in Environmental Studies, Latin American Studies and Spanish from the University of Kansas. He also holds a master’s in Contemporary European Politics, Policy and Society (the Euromasters Program), and studied at universities in Bath, UK; Siena, Italy; and Madrid, Spain. Tom’s European studies were funded by a Fulbright grant to the European Union (2006-2007). Most recently, Tom earned his Master of Divinity at Boston University School of Theology graduating manga cum laude with a certificate in Religion and Conflict Transformation.
