Vera has more than ten years of experience in customer service spanning the restaurant, student services, public safety, urban planning, and public involvement sectors. In her role as a Campaign Administrator, she coordinates and creates collateral for trustee Nominations and Philanthropy meetings and collaborates with fundraisers and other philanthropy operations team members to execute on philanthropy-related administrative needs and team-building activities at The Nature Conservancy's Washington chapter. She's passionate about giving community members and donors the tools they need to become active forces of change. She participates in community organizing with Got Green's Young Leaders Committee to create living wage green internships and jobs for young workers of color.
Prior to The Nature Conservancy, Vera she translated the science behind wastewater treatment into Layman’s terms and explained delays in local transportation megaprojects as a project coordinator at PRR. Before PRR, she conducted ecological research at the largest Magellanic penguin colony in the world! In her free time, she can be found paddling with her canoe team and watching action movies. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Community, Environment & Planning and a Bachelor of Science in Biology, both from the University of Washington.
